YDS, which stands for Yabancı Dil Bilgisi Seviye Tespit Sınavı (Foreign Language Proficiency Test), is an exam prepared and administered by ÖSYM twice a year—in the spring and fall. It is a prestigious English proficiency exam, mostly taken by individuals aiming for an academic career, where achieving high scores can be quite challenging.

• The exam is held twice a year.

• It consists of 80 questions.

• The duration of the exam is 180 minutes.

• Incorrect answers do not cancel out correct ones.

• Correct answers are calculated on a scale of 1.25 points each.
